Three Cups of Tea [With Headphones] (Playaway Adult Nonfiction)
by: Greg Mortenson, David Oliver Relin

Editorial Review:

The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian campaign to use education to combat terrorism in the Taliban's backyard

Anyone who despairs of the individual's power to change lives has to read the story of Greg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer who, following a 1993 climb of Pakistan's treacherous K2, was inspired by a chance encounter with impoverished mountain villagers and promised to build them a school. Over the next decade he built fifty-five schools--especially for girls--that offer a balanced education in one of the most isolated and dangerous regions on earth. As it chronicles Mortenson's quest, which has brought him into conflict with both enraged Islamists and uncomprehending Americans, Three Cups of Tea combines adventure with a celebration of the humanitarian spirit.

FANTASTIC BOOK:

I am still in the process of reading this book, but it is so good, I have a hard time putting it down. Very,Very Interesting book.

A must read!:

Moving and insightful:

This book had me hooked from the start. What an amazing guy Greg Mortenson is. I can't wait to read the sequel.

One person makes a difference:

I didn't know what to expect when I picked up this book on the recommendation of a friend. What a delightful surprise. Not only did I learn a lot about Pakistan, but I learned a lot about the people who live there. From Mr. Mortenson's early naivete to his great achievements, it was such a wonderful account of desire triumphing over many obstacles. It also proved that we sometimes have impressions of a people that are totally inaccurate. We hear that Muslims don't want girls educated but in reality, only... more info
